What is Production Link?

Production Link is a collaborative effort of various production companies, filmmakers, industry experts, and service providers with only one goal in mind. Let's make the Georgia production workforce stronger, accessible, and more informed so that every Georgian can benefit from the tremendous economic impact the film industry has on our state.  Meet qualified crew personnel, producers, screenwriters, service providers, industry experts, and many more.

To ensure that all attendees have access to their preferred industry experts, filmmakers, and resources, early registration is highly encouraged. Every person who registers will be slotted to meet with specific experts and panelist during the power-networking session. However, early registrants and those attending the panel discussion will receive priority slots to meet with our panelists. Please see the event outline below.  

Powerhouse Panel Discussion Featuring

Pierre - This comedian, actor, and now film producer will discuss the reality of independent filmmaking and share what it takes to produce independent features.

Cherie Kloss - This reality show developer will be covering what it takes to get a reality show concept sold and on the air. She is an Executive Producer for Redline Films and successfully sold Bamazon, Swinger Wives Atlanta, Backyard Oil Barons, and has currently has another show beginning syndication on A&E. At Production Link she will be accepting appointments during the power-networking session for those who have a reality show to pitch.

Karen Sortor - She is an account specialist with Entertainment Partners Financial Solutions and will be covering the Georgia tax incentives for production companies, tax credit brokerage and film funding.

Jeffrey Umberger - Jeffrey Umberger is the owner of the Umberger Agency. His full service Voice Over agency represents voice actors in the US, Great Britain, Canada, and Singapore. Having one of the most recognized voice-over rosters in the United States, he will discuss how your voice can be one of your most valuable assets in production.

Sit down one-on-one with various industry experts that are there to help you. Pitch a show, find an acting coach, find a producer for your next script, ask legal questions, become a preferred vendor, or simply gain access to a wealth of knowledge that will have your mind racing with new ideas. Whether you are sitting with an industry expert or working the main floor, our hosts will assist you in meeting with whomever you need to meet with most. So bring your calendars and take notes! Seven Ways in Seven Days to Have the Best Halloween Week Ever!!!

If you aren't in the Halloween spirit yet then what are you waiting for? And another thing, please don't misconstrue our meaning of "Halloween spirit" as something evil. Some people can take the fun out of the season by labeling people who allow their children to go trick-or-treating as devil worshippers when most normal people don't even care to think of it that way. We're talking about the one holiday where you can dress up in silly costumes, eat sweets without feeling guilty, and go pay for someone to scare you.

October is my favorite month of the year because there is so much going on that it is simply fun. Don't you think that all adults should try to have more fun? It definitely relieves stress. Below you will find seven ways to have the best Halloween week ever. Even if you don't try all of them, do something to help yourself smile this week. 

#1   CARVE A PUMPKIN

Who cares if you didn't take an art class in school? What other time of year would you carve a pumpkin? Exactly!  Invite your favorite little person (aka kid/niece/nephew/etc.) to help you and get started. Pick a wide area, grab some newspapers, a scooper, trash bags, and other materials you may need. Just make sure you have a few hours to spare to carve, clean up the mess, and get cleaned up afterwards. You'll be surprised in how totally time consumingly awesome it can be.

#2   DECORATE

This may be a little far fetched for some people but if you have small children, decorating is a must. Even if you can't, try to at least pick up a pumpkin and sit it out on the porch. Stores everywhere will be getting rid of everything the closer it gets to Halloween, so hurry and get to the stores and see if you can find a great deal. Not sure where to start? #3   FIND A COSTUME

One of the best parts about Halloween is having a reason to dress up. Find the nearest Spirit store and pick out a cool costume. If you don't feel like making a purchase then go through your closest and get creative. You'd be surprised what a little bit of make-up, paint, poster board and markers can do. Really. Just remember that this is the one time of year that no one can truly judge you, so wear whatever the heck you want to.

#4   BAKE

Enjoying Halloween treats is a great way to kick off the holiday season. I can remember going trick-or-treating as a child and knowing that I could finally splurge on all the candy my parents would allow me to eat. Then, I would get to eat all the baked goods from the school carnival and class parties. "Oh how fun!" You can't beat childhood. I'm just glad that my metabolism still works. With all the parties going around, trust that you will be able to show off your baking skills to anyone willing to indulge. This website has a few recipes including the chocolate orange cake above. "Yummy!" Go for it.

#5   GO TO A HALLOWEEN PARTY

You absolutely can't go through the month of October without attending a party somewhere. Whether it's your church group, a family member, or a friend of a friend's get together; put on your new creative costume and strut your stuff into somebody's costume party. Just make sure you bring a bottle or something edible to contribute. However if you can't find a party to crash, then throw one yourself. Load up your iPod with some of the latest hits and get on Facebook and blast the news to all of your friends. If you don't do anything on this list, this is by far a must. If not, then you dear reader may be considered anti-social and probably a bore to be around. Not good. 

#6   WATCH A SCARY MOVIE

I absolutely looooovvvveeee scary movies. I will watch them anytime of year. Halloween totally gives you one more excuse to invite friends over for a fright movie night or to simply get a little closer to the one you love. Maybe they scare you or they don't but if you're looking for a movie to really get under your skin I have a recommendation. Watch The Orphan. I am the biggest fan of horror movies but this one in particular scared the crap out of me. It wasn't so much the movie itself but more so the twisted secret revealed at the end. It seriously freaked me out and to this day I still refuse to watch it by myself. You can watch the trailer here. 

#7  GO TO A HAUNTED HOUSE

Visiting Netherworld in Atlanta on a Haunted House Crawl

My absolute favorite Halloween tradition is to walk through a haunted house. Growing up in the state of Georgia Halloween meant all of the above and getting to experience some of the scariest haunted houses around. With endless backwoods, old plantations and the love of chainsaw scares, I can't get enough. Amongst my friends and associates they all know I'm the haunted house connoisseur. So when they're looking for a good place to get scared they call me. It is not uncommon for me to visit a haunted house every weekend in the month of October. Call me crazy but its the only month to see great acting and production design at its best. 

It is such a huge industry in our state that the houses are getting even longer and extra competitive to see which house can scare the best. If you've never visited a haunted house before I highly advise you to gather a group of friends (who love to laugh) and make them come with you. Trust me that you don't want to go at it alone like the reporter Ellen featured. Paying to be scared is more about the experience of getting to laugh at yourself and your friends, especially after you realize how ridiculous you probably looked running through the attraction.
